Color Day Themes: Monopoly on Love

We love it when couples don't take themselves too seriously and have a little fun with their wedding details. Recently a friend of mine told me how her colleagues had a Monopoly themed Save the Date. We loved the idea, but why just stop at the Save the Date! Monopoly is a sophisticated game, and adding some Monopoly themed details to your wedding will add some color and flare, without making it too gimmicky. We're especially big fans of this theme for Atlantic City weddings!

Bridal Market Week: Vera Wang Spring 2013

It's a dark and dreary Monday here in NY/NJ with all this much needed rain.  But, that won't stop us from brightening your day with some bold Spring 2013 wedding gowns.  Always the show stopper, Vera Wang put out a head turning collection of scarlet, crimson, blood red and dark plum gowns.  If you remember last year's collection of black and nude gowns, this year's line up is no shocker.  While we do prefer the traditional white or ivory, there's certainly something to be said about ladies in red and we can't deny the fact that the color represents romance, passion, and love - three things very much associated with weddings.

Would you dare to wear red?

Bridal Market Week: Amsale Spring 2013 Collection

To continue on with our Bridal Market Week previews for the 2013 collections, here are some of our favorites from Amsale.  We're thinking the Middleton sisters were somewhat of an inspiration here with the delicate lace and simple, fitted silhouettes. We're also loving all those side buns!

Bridal Market Week: Carolina Herrera Spring 2013

This weekend was a big one for the bridal industry!  Bridal Market Week got off to a great start as designers revealed their collections for Spring 2013.  Here's a look at some of the gorgeous gowns and other styling from one of our favorites, Carolina Herrera.  We love her mixture of traditional and modern and her acute attention to detail!  Plus, notice some of these gowns have pockets - a true sign she's designing for a practical and modern woman.

Color Day Themes: Mad Men

AMC's award winning series "Mad Men" has really helped to increase the popularity of vintage style and bring retro inspired fashion to the main stream with collections from Banana Republic, Estee Lauder, and more.  Are you loving the vintage trend too?  Bring on the nostalgia and turn your wedding into a Mad Men themed event.  Grab some pearls, white gloves, skinny ties, a typewriter, and an Old Fashioned or two and get ready to party like it's 1965.

Skirting into Spring

With warm weather come short skirts. But this Spring, we're starting to see a new trend -- longer, looser skirts that fall below the knee. While bodycon and minis are still in, we're loving this more flowy and carefree option. It's perfect for hot summer days, traveling, and every day use. We fine it a much more practical option as compared to the restrictive body skirts and the bottom heavy maxi styles. Plus it's less dangerous to wear on a windy day (such as today) than the mini flowy skirts. It's like Betty Draper combines forces with Peggy Olsen, minus the heart of coal and the pilgrim style.

Eggcellent Easter Style

You don't have to be Christian to enjoy some of the springtime traditions typically associated with Easter. Coloring eggs, for example, is a creative and fun activity that everyone can participate it, regardless of if you celebrate Easter or not.  When we were kids we admit many of our eggs came out an icky kind of brownish color that was the result of failed attempts to use that silly little wire holder that was really good for nothing. Now that we're adults our standards have been raised quite a bit.  Writing our names in wax crayon may have impressed us at one time, but we're in the big leagues now.  Here are some really pretty designs to try out when decorating your eggs this week and be sure to check out the Martha Stewart page for even more great Easter style ideas:
